We left Malheur National Wildlife Refuge around 10:00 AM, stopping in at the office to say goodbye to Tami.

Spent the night at Bully Creek Park northwest of Vale, Oregon on the Bully Creek Reservoir. This is a very nice park with electric hookups, water is available, and they have a dump...all for $10 per night.

Today is our last day of work! We had dinner at The Narrows to celebrate.

We're actually going to be a little sorry to leave here, although we won't necessarily miss working on the weekends. We've enjoyed the area and seeing lots of different birds and other animals. We're going to miss our California Quail which we've watched grow up from little balls of fluff to almost-adult birds. For the past couple of weeks, we've had Blue Heron roosting in a couple of dead trees near us, and today there were two Great Egrets in the same tree!

And this afternoon, we had a bat come visit us! S/he was in between the open window and the screen in one of the back windows. As it got dark, s/he inched ever closer to leaving until s/he finally flew away.

Today is Earl's 67th birthday. As a celebration, we drove the Lazy Daze into Burns to take Maxx to the vet so he could get his teeth cleaned. We figured it would be easier to take the Lazy Daze in and wait until Maxx was finished at the vet, than take the 60+ mile round trip twice in the same day.

After dropping Maxx off, we did grocery shopping, and had lunch at the Apple Peddler. Maxx wasn't finished at the vet's until around 3:30 PM...poor thing had to have 3 teeth pulled! But he doesn't seem any worse for the wear.

Although I normally don't work on Monday, I did work today so that Tami could have the day off so she could have a long weekend. I'll take this coming Friday off.
