Back Home Again

Jane and Ron Frisch (future Lazy Daze owners) came out to take a look at our Direcway setup. Unfortunately, we hadn't received the email Jane had sent the previous evening saying they were coming out, so we'd already taken everything down in preparation to leave. We were able to show them the equipment, though, and explain to them how it all worked.

Shortly after Jane and Ron arrived, my mother, sister, Lorri, and her partner, Gina, arrived for a visit bearing gifts: a bottle of late harvest Zinfandel and some tamales. We had a nice visit with them.

After all our company left, we hooked up the car and started the journey back to Quartzsite. We arrived around 4:00 PM, stopping at the Post Office to pick up our mail. After unloading the Lazy Daze, we had some of the tamales for dinner.

Christmas Day 2005

Today was a nice, quiet day. We took a drive through the park, and were surprised at the number of families out on Christmas Day having picnics.

For dinner, we cooked the ham we'd picked up at Safeway, along with some veggies and rice.

White Tank Mountains Regional Park, Day 3

We decided to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel, but they had people lined up outside, so we thought we'd try another restaurant nearby that has really good ham steak for breakfast. It was closed, and in the process of being changed over to a Black Bear Diner. Well, how about the I-Hop across the street? People lined up outside, too. Same story at the Waffle House. Finally, we ended up having breakfast at JB's in Goodyear.

After breakfast, we drove over to Best Buy to see if they had the CD for the 3rd chapter of Star Wars. They did have it, but the lines for the check out counter snaked back through the store, so we decided we could just as easily order it online.

So, we'll go to Wal-Mart and pick up some more storage boxes for the Lazy Daze. Parking lot was packed, and we figured we'd have to wait in the checkout line forever just to buy a few boxes, so back to the park we went.

Moral of the story: Don't try to do any shopping on the day before Christmas!

White Tank Mountains Regional Park, Day 2

After breakfast, we headed off for a day of shopping.

First stop was Trader Joe's to pick up some Two-Buck Chuck (Charles Shaw), and some of my favorite cereal (it's almost the only place I ever find it).

We then decided that, since we were in the northwest area of the Valley, we'd go to the Costco up on 83rd, north of Bell. On our way, we stopped at PetsMart to get a new name tag for Maxx...his other one was inadvertently thrown away when we threw away his old harness when it broke...and to get gas for the Honda.

We missed the turnoff for Costco, but just beyond was a Sam's Club, so we decided to stop there instead of making our way back to Costco...Christmas traffic being what it was.

After shopping at Sam's Club, we had lunch at Wendy's, and then did grocery shopping at the Safeway near there.

What a day...the traffic was unbelievable! We later learned that there is a Trader Joe's in Sun City (West?) which would have been much closer and easier to get to than the one we went to located on the outer loop of MetroCenter Mall.

White Tank Mountains Regional Park

We finished loading up the Lazy Daze and took off about 9:30 AM. First stop for Earl was the gas station to fill up, while I went to the bakery for apple fritters. Afterward, we stopped on a side road to hook up, and I left my purse -- with my keys in it -- in the Honda. I didn't realize it until AFTER I'd locked the car! Fortunately, we were able to get it unlocked at the local towing place...but it was an expensive mistake!

Otherwise, we had an uneventful trip to the White Tanks. This is a beautiful park.

Another visit to Andy & Gertie

Andy's generator arrived today, so we took it out, helped him get it started (OK, so we supervised!), and stayed to visit for awhile. Unfortunately, later that night, someone stole the generator even though it was cable locked to his rig! Can't imagine someone doing that, but I guess there are @*%)^)# every where!

Touring Gertie

Andy had a couple of things sent to our address, one of which arrived today, so we took it out to where he and Bill are parked at the Hi Jolly 14-day BLM area north of town.

We got to take a tour of Gertie, Andy's Lazy Daze. He's made lots of changes and improvements to his rig, including taking out one of the couches and installing an office center with drawers (since he works on the road, this was a great change).

Lazy Dazers Visit

Andy Baird and Bill Haas, both Lazy Daze owners, stopped by our place after Bill had an Olympian catalytic heater installed in his rig by RV Lifestyles, the local RV dealer in Quartzsite.

After touring Bill's rig, and seeing the changes he's made, we all went out to lunch at Silly Al's and had pizza. They have very good pizza. The only problem with the place, is that, even though we sat in the non-smoking section, we came home smelling like the bottom of an ash tray!

Saying Goodby

After Earl made breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs, Todd and MaryLou left to continue their trip home. We really enjoyed meeting them, and hope to see them out on the road sometime in the future.

Lazy Dazers Visit, Day 2

We all sat around chatting and drinking coffee until after 11:00 AM...too late to have breakfast anyplace, so we had lunch at Mark's Family Restaurant.

Todd entertained us with his guitar and singing...songs that he had written. We had a great time visiting!

I cooked a whole chicken for dinner along with green beans and rice.

Lazy Dazers Visit

Todd and MaryLou Lester, new Lazy Daze owners who had picked up their new Lazy Daze earlier this month, stopped by on their way home to Florida to visit with us for a couple of days. We had a nice visit, and had dinner at Taco Mio.
